It was during a game of Monopoly with his roommates in college that David had the revelation-everyone will always need a place to live and a place to work. Majoring in accounting and economics, David saw economics as ‘how to run a business’ and accounting as ‘the language of business’, to him, real estate provided the marriage of both.
David’s path took him to work for various developers managing their real estate assets. After working for one of the first women in commercial real estate in New York as the Vice President of Finance, he found himself with an opportunity to open almost a dozen residential buildings as the Director of Sales for the developer eventually leading him to go off on his own after selling hundreds of apartments. His experience gave him insight into both individual and builder owned apartment sales.
In 2013, (after 2/3’s of his real estate business the previous year was divorce related) at the suggestion of a colleague, David became a Certified Divorce Real Estate specialist. The program gave him particular expertise in working with couples through divorce with regards to their real estate assets. The program covered Family Law, financial issues and Real Estate, IRS Tax Law as it applies to divorce. This certification along with the experience of his own divorce, helped him to be better prepared to deal with the nuances of his divorcing clients.
David has a great empathy for all his clients and wants his divorcing clients to feel empowered by their decisions through the purchase or sale of their family home. He understands how difficult and personal this piece of the divorce process is and always wants his clients to feel that they made the right decision on their own. He makes sure his clients have all the information and understand all the steps of the real estate process.
David has a very calming presence which he attributes to his devotion to yoga, a necessity he says, in the face of the craziness of the real estate business!
